Richard Mille
Richard Mille is a visionary French watchmaking entrepreneur and founder of the eponymous ultra‑luxury watch brand based in Les Breuleux, Switzerland, renowned for revolutionizing haute horlogerie through the use of cutting-edge materials and engineering inspired by Formula 1 and aerospace.
Born in 1951 in Draguignan, France, he studied marketing in Besançon before beginning his career in 1974 at the French watchmaker Finhor, later rising to manage major watch brands at Matra and leading the watch division at the Parisian jeweller Mauboussin. In 1999, he partnered with Dominique Guenat to create Horométrie SA and launched the first Richard Mille watch in 2001, establishing a new ultra‑luxury segment defined by technical performance, extreme lightness, and high-resistance construction.
Under his leadership, the brand has grown into a global reference in contemporary high-end watchmaking, with iconic models such as the RM 001 Tourbillon and a network of boutiques in key international markets.
Beyond watchmaking, Mille is also active in philanthropy through initiatives such as the Richard Mille Fund, which supports advanced medical research and social causes including the Paris Brain Institute and Institut Imagine.
