The CFA Institute Research Challenge in Switzerland is part of the CFA Institute Research Challenge globally organized since 2007. It is an international educational initiative in which leading industry professionals guide business and finance students in researching and reporting on a publicly-traded company. Student teams of 3-5 Bachelor/Master students take the role of financial analysts over the course of one semester. Teams research a predetermined publicly traded company, prepare a research report and deliver a presentation on their investment thesis. The student teams are evaluated on the basis of their research report, the delivery of their presentation and their ability to respond to detailed questions from the judges.
The company analyzed this year is
Sika Group
.
Sika is a specialty chemicals company with a globally leading position in the development and production of systems and products for bonding, sealing, damping, reinforcing, and protection in the building sector and industrial manufacturing. Sika has subsidiaries in 102 countries around the world and, in over 400 factories, produces innovative technologies for customers worldwide. In doing so, it plays a crucial role in enabling the transformation of the construction and transportation sector toward greater environmental compatibility. With more than 34,000 employees, the company generated sales of CHF 11.76 billion in 2024.
The students were supported by mentors who are senior members of CFA Society Switzerland and CFA charterholders. The team’s reports were graded and commented upon by several finance professionals and CFA charterholders on a completely anonymous basis. Their final presentations will be evaluated by a high-profile panel of judges consisting of senior analysts, portfolio managers, heads of research and chief investment officers in Switzerland.
