As Managing Director of the pension fund association "inter-pension," Nico Fiore represents collective and joint pension institutions – the type of pension funds that provide occupational retirement benefits for the majority of Swiss SMEs.

Pension funds manage the retirement savings of millions of insured persons and thus bear an extraordinary responsibility. To meet that responsibility, they need sound framework conditions, trust in the system, and the necessary scope for action. This is precisely where Mr. Fiore's work comes in.

He is concerned with the major questions of retirement provision: How will the occupational pension scheme (BVG) and the old-age and survivors' insurance (AHV) develop under the pressure of demographic change? What opportunities does digitalization offer? Where does regulation create security – and where does it start to unnecessarily restrict scope for action?

In doing so, Nico Fiore tries to look at complex topics from different perspectives, to make connections visible, and to ask uncomfortable questions as well. Because especially in occupational pensions, the simple answer is rarely the right one.

He regularly brings this perspective into public debate – as a speaker, author, and discussion partner for politics, administration, the media and the industry. Professionally, he draws on a federal certificate of proficiency in personnel benefits/pension provision and a Master of Advanced Studies in Pension Fund Management from the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, where he now also teaches in the DAS/MAS program and is a member of the academic advisory board. His experience spans communications, public affairs, politics, and association management.

Richard Köppel joined Marsh in February 2022. In his role, he leads the Retirement Services Switzerland for Marsh, providing consulting services to corporate organizations and Swiss pension funds.  

Prior to joining Marsh, Richard worked for five years as a Senior Manager in the pension consulting practice of a Big-4 company and for around 10 years at another international pension consultant. With that, Richard consolidates more than 15 years of professional experience within the Swiss pension consulting market.  

He focuses on supporting corporate organizations with a footprint in Switzerland and Swiss pension funds. His area of expertise include funding valuations, plan design reviews, guiding and implementing on pension transformation projects (including pension fund mergers), pension accounting under international accounting standards, as well as providing strategic support in M&A or pension de-risking projects.  

Richard obtained certification as a Swiss Pension Fund Expert and he holds a master’s degree in mathematics from the University of Zurich. He is fluent in German and English.

Philipp Weber is the Head of Investment Consulting Switzerland for Marsh. He has over 20 years of experience providing investment advice to institutional investors.  

Prior to joining Marsh in November 2021, Philipp served as a Senior Investment Consultant at c-alm AG from 2010 to 2021. In this role, Philipp was responsible for advising on the full range of investment consulting, including investment strategy setting, portfolio structuring, manager selection and monitoring. Additionally, Philipp served as the Head of Research and was responsible for developing capital market assumptions as well as capital market and manager research.

From 2017 to 2021, he was a lecturer in the CAS BVG program of the University of St. Gallen. Between 2005 and 2009, Philipp held different roles in risk- and portfolio management at UBS.  

Philipp is a CFA charter holder and holds a master’s degree in quantitative economics and finance from the University of St. Gallen, as well as a master’s degree in international management from the Community of International Management Schools (CEMS).
