CFA Society Switzerland is pleased to host High-Integrity Carbon Removals as an Emerging Asset Class as part of Building Bridges 2026 in Geneva.

As investors assess the role of carbon removals in the transition to net zero, questions around quality, integrity, scalability, and appropriate capital allocation are becoming increasingly important. This session will provide an objective look at how the carbon removals market is developing and what its evolution may mean for institutional investors and asset owners.

The discussion will examine the characteristics that distinguish high-integrity carbon removal projects, current and potential supply constraints, and the role of capital in supporting projects capable of delivering credible climate impact alongside biodiversity and community co-benefits.

A central question will be how high-integrity carbon removals can contribute to addressing residual emissions within credible net-zero investment strategies. The session will also explore what asset owners should consider when evaluating this emerging market, including project quality, integrity, risk, scalability, and the potential role of carbon removals within investment portfolios.

Bringing together perspectives from across investment and carbon markets, the session is intended to support an informed and balanced discussion about the opportunities, challenges, and considerations associated with carbon removals as an emerging asset class.
