Career Paths 2026

Event Details

The Careers Committee of CFA Society Switzerland is pleased to welcome you back for the fifth consecutive year to our flagship in-person career event.

Over the years, we have explored a wide range of career paths and tackled some of the most pressing questions facing finance professionals today. From fintech, crypto, private markets, and impact investing to discussions on how AI is reshaping careers and what it takes to transition from a corporate role into entrepreneurship, we have covered it all. We have also addressed the challenges of making career changes later in a career.

This year, we will explore new territory: transferable skills and careers in family offices.

Our first panel will explore one of the least understood segments of the job market: family offices. Opportunities in this space are often unadvertised, and gaining a clear, comprehensive view of the landscape can be challenging. Together with our panelists, we will examine how family offices operate, how to access opportunities in this sector, and which skills are required for different roles. We will discuss the challenges and opportunities for professionals considering this path, the importance of trust and personal relationships, and how technological trends, especially AI, may shape the future of this space.

In the second part of the evening, we will turn to the topic of transferable skills. At a time when traditional employers of CFA charterholders are no longer a guaranteed source of career opportunities, many professionals are considering lateral moves. This raises an important question: How can CFA charterholders and finance professionals apply their skills in entirely new contexts? Our panel will examine the core skill sets developed in roles such as portfolio management, M&A advisory, and banking and how they can be applied across industries, including industrials and healthcare. We will highlight real-life success stories and discuss which paths may be best suited for experienced professionals with a traditional finance background.

Before the event, you will have the opportunity to have a professional headshot taken and receive personalized CV feedback from experienced professionals involved in hiring. Although AI tools and applicant tracking systems are increasingly part of the recruitment process, people still make hiring decisions. We believe practical advice from professionals with deep knowledge of the Swiss market remains highly valuable.

We look forward to welcoming you again to HWZ for an inspiring and thought-provoking evening. Join us for insightful discussions and fresh perspectives on careers in Switzerland’s finance industry.
