CFA Society Switzerland is delighted to invite its members and supporters to a special gala evening celebrating its 25th anniversary.  We are very grateful that the event will be attended by very distinguished speakers and guests, including the current CEO and President of the CFA Institute, the  founders of the Swiss society, past and present members of the board as well as senior leaders in the financial industry. A panel of experts will share their insights into  current issues impacting our profession. We have also the pleasure of hosting many speakers of our successful webinar series.  This special evening will be full of exceptional networking opportunities.

Margaret Franklin, CFA

Margaret Franklin, CFA, leads CFA Institute and its more than 170,000 members worldwide in promoting the highest standards of education, ethics, and professional excellence in the investment profession. She assumed her role in September 2019 and has more than 25 years of investment and wealth management experience.
Before joining CFA Institute, Margaret led International Wealth Management for North America and was president of BNY Mellon Wealth Management, Advisory Services in Canada. She also served as a board member of BNY Mellon Trust Company (Cayman). Margaret joined BNY Mellon in 2016.
She previously served as chair of CFA Institute Board of Governors and is a former president of the CFA Society Toronto Board. She is a founding member of the CFA Institute Women in Investment Initiative, a past recipient of the Alfred C. Morley Distinguished Service Award in 2014, and a member of its Future of Finance Content Council.
Margaret earned a Bachelor of Administration in Economics from McMaster University in Ontario. She is a CFA charterholder and a member of the CFA Society Toronto.

Maximilian is Chief Investment Officer for the Global Family Office segment within UBS Global Wealth Management. In this capacity, he is responsible for bringing together market and investment insights to optimize impact for UBS Global Family Office clients. He is also Regional Chief Investment Officer for Germany and Austria.
Prior to joining the Chief Investment Office in January 2016, Maximilian headed the Investment Specialist team for UHNW Latin America in UBS Global Wealth Management. In this capacity, he was responsible for positioning the Wealth Management product and service offering within the House View. Before this, he was part of the Active Portfolio Advisory team providing multi-asset class investment advice to UHNW and HNW clients. Maximilian joined UBS as a graduate in 2006.
Maximilian holds a Master's of Science in Management with distinction from the London School of Economics, a CEMS Master in International Management (London School of Economics and ESADE), and a first class honours Bachelor of Science in Business Management from King's College London.

Mirjam Staub-Bisang

Mirjam Staub-Bisang is Country Head of BlackRock Switzerland and a member of the EMEA Executive Committee as well as a Senior Advisor to BlackRock Sustainable Investing. Prior to BlackRock, Mirjam led an investment management firm focusing on sustainable investing based inZurich. Mirjam also served as a non-executive director on the boards of public and private companies and as chair the investment committees of several asset owners such as pension funds and endowments. Prior to these roles she held senior positions in asset management and private equity investing at Commerzbank and Swiss Life and worked in investment banking at Merrill Lynch in London and Zurich. Today she serves on the board of the global shoe retailer Bata as a non-executive director.
Mirjam holds a PhD in Law from the University of Zurich and an MBA from INSEAD. She authored the standard work ‘Sustainable Investing for Institutional Investors: Risks, Regulations, Strategies’ and co-authored the second edition of ‘Infrastructure as an Asset Class’. In 2009 she was elected a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum.

Vineer Bhansali, PhD

Vineer Bhansali is Founder and Chief Investment Officer of LongTail Alpha, LLC, an investment management firm based in Newport Beach, CA which is focused exclusively on diversifying strategies.

His 30-year investment career started at Citibank, where he founded and managed the Hybrid Options Trading Desk. He later joined Salomon Brothers in its Fixed Income Arbitrage Group, followed by the CSFB Proprietary Trading Group. He was at PIMCO for 16 years, serving the last eight years as Managing Director and Head of the Quantitative Portfolios Team, which he founded in 2008.

He has written five books on finance: “Pricing and Managing Exotic and Hybrid Options”; “Fixed Income Finance: A Quantitative Approach”; “Bond Portfolio Investing and Risk Management”; “Tail Risk Hedging”, and the most recent monograph published by the CFA Institute: “The Incredible Upside Down Bond Market”, and authored over 30 refereed papers on option pricing, fixed income, tail hedging, and asset allocation in noted journals. He has received the Graham and Dodd Scroll Award from the FAJ and TIME magazine’s college achievement award.

Dr. Bhansali received his Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from Harvard University in 1992 and M.S. and B.S. degrees in Physics from Caltech in 1987.  He is an ATP rated pilot with over four thousand hours in aircraft including jets and helicopters. He has run over fifty ultramarathons, including a silver buckle at the Western States 100 mile Endurance Run, and also the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc, Angeles Crest 100 and Leadville Trail 100. He currently serves on the Investment Committee of the Margaret A Cargill Philanthropies, is a Member of The Board of Directors of The Q Group and is a Trustee of the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute.
